  each kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses have cleaning days, where families gather to clean the hall.

  three cleaning days a year, spirng, fall and before the memorial offers a pediophile time alone with the children.

  it takes only one assault against a child to make it a crime.

  Teary, when we lived in London a paedophile merely got moved to another congregation.

  Furthermore, an Elder who had a conscience mentioned presence of the paedophile to parents so that they could keep more of an eye on their children, the Elder got disfellowshipped along with his wife who supported him.

  I agree there are paedophiles everywhere and to the victim it doesn't matter whether they are a JW, a rugby player or a stree cleaner the trauma is the same. However, the point here is that when someone is in a position of trust we are more relaxed therefore when you are around other JWs of course parents are more relaxed believing fellow witnesses not to be padeophiles so they have MORE opportunity than everyone else.

  All people want is to feel protected and safe when amongst fellow Christians not more at risk which is what has happened and may still be happening.

  i'm not a happy bunny.

  basically, they're saying that any crackpot organization can get charitable status as long as they're a religion.

  That is true Wobble. My husband has just been asked to carry out charitable visits for the large corporation for whom he worked for 26 years. This will involve visiting elderly people who have retired. In the information he has been provided with is a sentence he needs to run past his car insurer to ensure that he is covered whilst carrying out these visits.

  The visits will only be two or three times a year but nevertheless the car insurers have to be told.

  I studied law and was taught that a contract of insurance is a contract of utmost good faith. The onus is therefore on the person seeking cover to divulge every piece of information required. Faillure to do so would mean that the cover could be rescinded in the event of an incident occuring whilst the car is being used for something which wasn't mentioned.

  Well done for trying - gutted by their response though. We all know that they actually do nothing for charity whatsoever. Their attitude towards others is far from charitable. To me a charitable person looks for the best in people, I have never seen any evidence of this. All they do is bad mouth others.

  I have an HTC Desire Android based phone, it's great when you get used to it. It replaced a five year old windows based smartphone so was quite a huge change for me. However, I really like it now I have got to grips with it.

  I haven't had any problems with it apart from me getting used to something completely new and different.

  the only drawback is that the battery runs down fairly quickly.

  With regard to the cleaning of the KH I attended, there was a rota based on the Tuesday night groups.

  When it was our Group's turn to clean I offered to do the vacuuming but was told not allowed to get the vacuum cleaner out today, we were expected to go on our hands and knees with a dustpan and brush in our Sunday best! Because of my mobility problems I couldn't do that anyway.

  I was very surprised, are there set days in which the vacuum cleaner can be got out in all halls or was it somebody stupid's idea just in our KH?

  What exactly are men at the back of the hall taking care of?

  once people have come in, and the doorman and the mic men are in place, why are there a few other suits scattered about at the back?

  i saw a guy get up, sit down, get up, sit down, get up and when i looked what he was up to he was reading the noticeboard and looking around, waiting for a bus.

  i figured he wasn't doing much at that point, but anything to not stay seated.

  In our KH there would always be someone going up to another brother sitting and whisper in his ear. This would happen frequently.

  I didn't attend a KH until I was in my forties and knew little about JWs prior to that.

  For years when I was younger I had attended various churches which was completely my own choice and always enjoyed it. I never noticed misapplied scriptures when I attended church, though it is fair to say that I didn't look at religion critically until I attended a KH. I think the reason for this is that the churches I attended never forced anything on you. They also never criticised other faiths or religions in their sermons, all in all it was a much more pleasant experience.

  When attending the KH I was shocked at the hate for others they preached and I think for this reason I became much more of a critical thinker. I began to notice how they would twist a scripture to mean something that they wanted to force you to do, i.e. go out on the ministry and so forth.

  Strangely though they didn't seem to mention Matthew 7:3 very often!

  being very interested in psychology i read a book as a teenager and re-read it last year called " gestalt therapy verbatim " by frederick perls m.d.

  it deals with dreamwork therapy in which he conducted seminars helping people to re-connect with subconscious parts of themselves by recounting their dreams .

  I dreamt of my daughter a couple of night's back, she lives around 250 miles from where I now live.

  I could see her face looking distraught and her eyes looking up at me beseechingly and her hands were tied behind her back. I phoned her the next morning but there was no reply but she rang me back later in the day. She asked what I wanted and I said I was just phoning to see if she was OK. She said not really and got upset and started telling me some major problems she was having at work. I asked her if she felt her hands were tied and she said yes.

  However, we chatted for nearly an hour and then she said she felt better.

  Horrible conduct by congregation Elders at my cousin's funeral.............

  my cousin passed away last week from cancer at the age of 49. the cancer spread so fast it took our family by surpise.

  we figured she had a couple of years instead of months.

  she left 4 children(3 were baptised and 1 was disfellowshipped a couple of years ago).

  What right do they have over the deceased's family? Totally unbelievable.

  Who else could go into someone else's house and dictate rules to them?
